Project Description

This project takes place in Sinuni district, which seeks to provoke youth obtain life skills and psychological support and reinforcement to hinder bewilderedness and devastation in youth’s norms, emotions and stimulate them for brighter future, also to plant peace, sympathy and optimism in their personalities, which aims to be positive transformation in community throughout Music, Art and theater/poetry courses. These courses target to graduate 135 participants, each course consist of 45 participants from dissimilar backgrounds, to disseminate peace, cooperation, coexistence, acceptance and confederation in society.

Theater course: Youth’s feelings and conceptions are very successfully made clear using theatre (Plays) in three sessions for 45 students. In this course types of theater, theater elements, plays and their objectives, theater roles, poetry with its types are discussed and made clear with explicit explanation. Also, a film is presented to demonstrate the profound meaning of peace and community initiatives. Peace is referred to as the core of life and the most significant sign for taking community toward outshine future. Also, youth are taught about coexistence, the importance of their role in community and self-confidence likewise they are inspired to be optimistic guide for the community.

Fayza is one of the girl participants in theater course who was very sheepish and does not confide in herself. Because of conflicts and difficulties in her society, as well as a lack of opportunities to express what she feels inwardly. When she came to the centre and we registered her name in the theatre course, she was feeling very shy and was trying to avoid interaction and discussion with participants. After attending the first three lectures in the course and explaining the objectives of the course. This broke the shyness barrier. After passing time, her encouragement for participation increased. “I am very glad for participating in this course,” she said. However, it became explicit that she is excellent in theater and speaking in public. After some sessions she herself asked for a role to act as an actor in the play which was prepared for graduation party, however, after participating in the play she appeared as a successful actor. However, she became an encouraged girl and created friendship with other participants.

Music course: Youth are encouraged to declare their conceptions using music as a clue for their inner emotions and notions. 45 participants are taught about music elements and notes, basics of music playing on the piano, how to hold music equipment correctly and sing appropriately. Also subjects such as violence, abuse and conflicts are explained for them to deviate such cases and know how to deal with them if in case they faced. They are introduced to friends from different background to spread friendship. As well as youth are recognized about cooperation in community and avoid discrimination which is the source of peaceful community. They are stimulated to be benevolent and extraordinary leader for their community.

Aziz is a young man who loved music, but there was no chance given to him to express his talent. It was a great opportunity given to him by Humanity to develop his talent in music. Aziz said, “I am very thankful for humanity because of the support they gave to me and other youth like me”. Throughout the sessions taken place, he could greatly express his hidden talent. Then development clearly was seen in his talent, because before there was no center which could support and develop people’s talents like Aziz. But Humanity could give opportunity to such talents to not be vanished or hindered. His self-confidence and encouragement increased, he becomes one of the best students who could account on his talent.

 

Art course: Since youth in sinjar have momentous impact on the overall community, significantly peace is explained to be spread among society. However thoughts, ideas and hopes are expressed through art. This course is divided into three portions in each portion 15 students are involved; their total number is 45. Worth mentioning that different and meaningful topics are explained during the classes given. For instance types of portrait and their school-related, art such as decorative, schematic, and plastic art, colours, and dye. Furthermore, elements and basics of art are made explicit. The opportunity is given to students to express their inward feelings, ideas in their paintings. Beneficiaries are asked towards a better future and planting peace and positive ideas in their mind. Teaching them harmony and acceptance instead of hostility.

Shealan is a participant in Art course who was fond of drawing since her childhood that became her ambition. But due to her special circumstances, she found obstacles in persevering in her talent. She was unable to buy her drawing equipment and needs. It became a great opportunity for her to join our center and to improve and illustrate her talent. “I am very happy because Humanity supported my skills and encouraged me to continue my talent” After attending to the classes, despite drawing, evolvement is seen in her thoughts as well. She can present peace in her works which she did not know it previously.
